Mission

Prevention of child abuse and neglect through direct intervention with the community and families who need assistance and guidance.

History

The Child Abuse Prevention Effort (CAPE) was founded on January 18, 1973 by the late Honorable Judge Lisa Richette after seeing too many of Philadelphia’s children hurt or neglected by their parents or caregivers. CAPE is one of the few organizations in Philadelphia started by volunteers without the benefit of a grant or endowment. CAPE is a nonprofit, charitable organization offering Prevention Programs which specifically address issues of child abuse and neglect through direct services to families.
